Magnolias

Magnolias, 4/2/2015, Michael N. Johns

I brought you magnolias when our love, fresh and new
Started blossoming, hopeful, and then only grew.
Love’s sunbeams softly danced, falling through canopies,
As we walked happily, hand in hand through the trees,
Over time I got lost in forests of failure,
The blossoms faded, cold winter would endure,
The vase was symbolic of my empty heart,
In the corner’s cold darkness, more hard clay than art.
But it’s spring; my heart needs you; I’m finding my way,
While my failures still hurt, today is a new day
I’ll bring you magnolias if your love’s still in bloom
In the vase you hated in the corner of the room.
